Join us for our final #anz23mthings hangout on Wed 6 November!

5 Nov

We are in the final wrap-up week of ANZ 23 Mobile Things – it’s been an amazing experience; thanks to everyone for joining us on this journey and making it a very special one!

We thought a fun way to round it off would be a final hangout to discuss where we’ve been and where this programme might head in the future.

So please join Join Kate, Mylee, Kathryn, Jan (hopefully) and me this Wednesday 6 November, at 8:00PM (NZ time), 6PM (AEST), and 3PM (AWST) as we discuss these things and much more!

So tune into our video-channel at 8:00PM (NZ), 6:00PM (AEDT), and 3:00PM(AWST) to join in. You can tweet us your questions using the #anz23mthings or ask them as comments on this post and we’ll do our best to answer them.

Archive of Hangout #3 – ebooks & more!

19 Sep

Hey everyone,

We had a great time hanging out with Mylee and Kathryn tonight as we discussed ebooks, productivity tools, some things to look forward to with the last five ‘things’, and Mylee’s and Kathryn’s plans for the future post 23 Mobile Things. There’s plenty here for you to sink your teeth into, and leave us some comments or questions below 🙂

Both Mylee and I (Abigail) will be presenting at LIANZA Conference 2013 on October 20-23.

Mylee’s presentation is: Catylsts, Innovation and Online Engagmeent @SLNSW

Mine is on ANZ 23 Mobile Things – specifically the partnership between NZ & Australian librarians and what we’ve learned from running the programme.

We’re really looking forward to seeing many of you there!

It’s Hangout time!

17 Sep

It has been too long since our last hangout in June(!) so we are bringing you another one, this Thursday 19th September, at 8:00PM (NZ time), 6:00PM (AEST).

Join Abigail, Mylee, Kathryn, Jan (hopefully) and me as we discuss:

  • What’s been happening
  • All things ebooks
  • Dropbox, evernote and productivity apps
  • What is around the corner.

So tune into our video-channel at 8:00PM (NZ), 6:00PM (AEST), and 4:00PM(AWST) to join in. You can tweet us your questions using the #anz23mthings or ask them as comments on this post and we’ll do our best to answer them.

#Anz23mthings Hangout 2 archived video

26 Jun

Hi everyone,

thank you to those who tuned in for the live-stream of our second hangout with the 23 Mobile Things crew. We had a great chat and covered Historypin (and the pub that kept walking away), Google hangouts versus Skype (complete with technical problems), how to interact with social media when it is not encouraged at work (and how to convince managers that it is worth it!), and concluded with discussing some new apps and technology we have discovered.

You can watch our archived chat below – apologies in advance for the poor quality of my web-cam. Google hangouts app currently won’t let you join an app on air, so I had to use my desktop (and correspondingly cheap web cam). Jan did say you could think of it as a “gangster filter” though which makes it cooler!

Hope you enjoy the chat; let us know your thoughts either in comments on the video, this blog post, Twitter, anywhere really!

Come and hangout with the #ANZ23mthings team!

24 Jun

Just a heads-up that we are planning the second Google+ hangout with the creators of 23 Mobile Things for Tuesday, June 25th, at 8:30PM (NZ time), 6:30PM (AEST) – that’s tomorrow!

Hope you can catch up with us and watch the live-stream of the hangout as we discuss:

  • the Things we have learned so far
  • the Things that are yet to come
  • a few tips on having your own Google hangout as that is Thing 7 – the focus for this week 🙂

So tune into our video-channel at 8:30PM (NZ), 6:3oPM (AEST), and 4:30PM(AWST) to join in. You can tweet us your questions using the #anz23mthings or ask them as comments on this post and we’ll do our best to answer them.

Join us for live-stream video of Google+ hangout with #23MobileThings Creators!

7 May

Kate and I would like to invite all you ANZ 23 Mobile Things peeps to our Google+ hangout with Jan Holmquist, Mylee Joseph, and Kathryn Barwick tomorrow!

What time?

The hangout will be taking place TOMORROW on Wednesday, May 8th from 8PM (NZ) & 6PM (AEST). If you can’t make it, there will also be a recording available on our Youtube page after the event.

What’s a hangout?

A Google+ hangout is a video chat (with a maximum of 10 people). Kate, Jan, Mylee, Kathryn and myself will be in the hangout room talking and we will stream it live onto our Youtube page.

What’s it all about?

Jan, Mylee and Kathryn will be telling us a little bit more about the creation of the 23 Mobile Things and their involvement as well as sharing some tips about the best way to make the most of the course. You can read a bit more about the 23 Mobile Things Team here in their introduction.

There will also be an interactive Q and A session at the end; where you can tweet us your questions using #anz23mthings & #hangout hashtags and we will answer them live! This is the moment to ask all your burning questions like “Why is Angry Bird one of the 23 Mobile Things???” and get answers live.

How can I take part?

Just check out our Youtube channel home page at 8PM (NZ) or 6PM (AEST) to watch our hangout as we broadcast live!
